Egyptian appeal court reduces Torah Cement workers’ jail sentence

An appeal court in Egypt has reduced lengthy jail sentences imposed on striking workers from Torah Cement. The court ruled on 18 June to cut the workers’ sentences from 3 years to two months.

The Torah Cement workers are the latest group of worker activists in Egypt to face harsh repression for demanding their rights, after the arrest of IFFCO food workers in January this year and bus workers from the Cairo Public Transport Authority in September last year.

  1. Al Sisi is a dictator. Toomany “regeni” have been killed in Egipt. Up to workers! western developed countries have to apply sanctions for denying of human rights by Egipt Army and State.
